Embedded remote content

This example story is part of the SHMARQL documentation. It demonstrates the Embed Remote Content Special Node. To open it as an editable project, download embed.lodeon.zip and import it in the story editor (/lodeon/ → Import).

The embed node shows a web page from another site in a frame. For safety, SHMARQL only shows frames from origins the site operator allows (nodes.embed.allowedOrigins in the file named by LODEON_CONFIG_PATH). The example configuration allows https://query.wikidata.org, whose embed page shows the results of a query as a table, map, chart or graph.

To make such a URL, write a query on query.wikidata.org, choose a result view and use Link → Embed result. The first line of the query (for example #defaultView:Map) selects the view.

Try it in the editor:

  • Add a third URL, for example a #defaultView:ImageGrid query.
  • Paste a URL from a site that is not allowed and see the warning the node shows.
  • Change the aspect ratio to custom and set a height.
