Music notation

This example story is part of the SHMARQL documentation. It demonstrates the Music Notation Special Node. To open it as an editable project, download music-notation.lodeon.zip and import it in the story editor (/lodeon/ → Import).

The music notation node engraves scores with Verovio and can play them back. It reads MEI and Plaine & Easie code (PAE, the notation of music incipits used by RISM). Notation can be typed in, loaded from a file, or come from a SPARQL query that returns ?data (and optionally ?format, ?label, ?resource, ?resourceLabel).

The PAE code of the first example:

@clef:G-2
@keysig:
@timesig:4/4
@data:4'EEFG/GFED/CCDE/4.E8D2D/

Try it in the editor:

  • Press play, change the tempo, and zoom the score.
  • Change @keysig: to @keysig:xF (G major) in the first node.
